I Had My Shiatsu Treatment What Should I Expect Now
Many people will feel a sense of relaxation,
and well-being settle in after shiatsu, while other people will feel terrible and require a few days to recover. The good news is that symptoms such as headaches, aches, pains etc. are the sign that your body is beginning to heal itself which is good news, so be patient, and give your body time to get better. Most of these unpleasant symptoms will last only a day or two before improvement is seen.
Many people experience symptoms that are similar to a head cold. The patient will cough, and produce mucus, along with a sore throat, and headache. The coughing and mucus is not a cause for concern, it is the bodies way of getting rid of undesirable foods in the body such as fats and sugars. A person who was not that healthy when they underwent shiatsu will likely develop mucus which can then lead to a head cold because the bodies cells are not as healthy as they should have been.
Tiredness is also common after a shiatsu treatment, and this is particularly the case with those who are stressed and full of nervous tension. The therapy helps to remove tension and stress, and after that the body may have a strong need for sleep and as much rest
Headaches as well as aches and pains follow the shiatsu treatment for some patients. These side effects usually will not last very long. Shiatsu is responsible for altering the ki that is found in the body and its purpose is to get rid of any blockages, thereby allowing energy to flow freely. Once this energy is out the ki is able to circulate freely through the body, but because of this change, sometimes a temporary imbalance will occur in one area of the body, which leads to pain or an ache. In some cases the practitioner might have spent too much time, or applied far much pressure to one area in relation to other areas of the body. The amount of pressure that needs to be exerted varies for each person, and also depends upon the reason the person sought help from a shiatsu practitioner in the first place. If your discomfort lasts for more than a couple of days then it is time to either visit your shiatsu practitioner again, or go to see your regular doctor.
In some cases a great deal of emotional feelings are released as a result of the shiatsu therapy session. This can lead to a great deal of crying, sometimes this is not easy for everyone to cope with. The well of emotions is a result of energy being stimulated to flow through the body, as a result of balance being sought. Often the emotional feelings that rise to the surface are the result of an event from the past, and it is best to let them out, and not try to hold them in. Holistic Cures for Pain
