and breathing skills to stop smoking. The next most successful was smoke aversion. This method actually uses stale
cigarette smoke which is still warm and has it blown into the face of the smoker who is trying to quit. It has
shown a success rate of twenty five percent of smokers using it being able to quit. Acupuncture has a similar rate
of twenty four percent of smokers quitting after an acupuncture system of treatments. Self-help methods have not
been great at achieving a high accomplishment rate amongst smoker. There are many books that are available to be
read on how to stop smoking. There are DVDs or vides available to purchase and watch as well as advice pamphlets
and articles that can be found in doctors offices or online. This form of assistance has only a nine percent
success rate. Nicotine gum does only slightly better. It had a success rate of ten percent. There are also nicotine
inhalers and sprays both of which have results similar to the nicotine gum. The nicotine patch also has similar
results. The worst results were from talks given by a persons health care provider trying to convince their
patients to quit. Almost no one listens to them. These results are based on studies that are done that are
conducted with control groups to ensure that the test results are clear. They are based on results after a twenty
four week period. This is because if someone can go that long without smoking then there are well on their way to
spending the rest of their lives smoke free. So, if you are ready to quit smoking, pick a method and get started.
