The Relationship Between
Meditation And Hypnotism
The Relationship Between Meditation And Hypnotism. Although
meditation and hypnotism are many thousand years in age we do
not know their precise beginnings.
What we do know is that these practices and methods create a
peace of mind. Additionally, Hypnosis can greatly enhance the
ability to mediate.
We will explore the relationship here. Focusing energy and
focusing you mind is something Hypnosis and meditation share;
consequently meditation is a form of hypnosis. Mediation and
hypnosis both are used to help a person concentrate, focus and
relax better.
While meditation takes a person into a meditative state the
purpose is different than that of hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy is
a means to achieve a goal. With meditation though a person
would achieve a prolonged tranquil state where a person can
calm their mind and relax.
The person usually practices breathing a certain way and the
clearing of any thoughts. Hypnosis is quite a lot like
meditation in that a person focuses breathing, relaxes the body
and might even reach an even deeper level into their mind.
Thinking versus not thinking But there is a major reversal
when it comes to thinking in relation to meditation and
hypnosis. With hypnosis you strive to still think unlike
meditation where you try to clear the mind and not think. A
great beginning point For this reason hypnosis is a great
precursor to meditation.
Why? Because as one enters hypnosis and reaches the
subconscious mind old programmed thought patterns can be
released thus freeing up and clearing the mind for a deep a
quiet level or state of meditation.
And to be more clear, in order to actually meditate you need
to be able to stop thinking and quiet the bombardment of
thoughts that are in you head all day.
Common Food Cures
Hypnosis Helps With Weight Loss
Hypnosis helps with weight loss because affects it the ingrained habits and upbringing; whereas dieting programs can not. Long term success isn't really even dependant on exercise programs that include dieting to lose weight. Long term achievement of your weight goals is dependent on altering the bad habits and programming that interfere with your success.
You don’t even have to necessarily change what you eat. You can be hypnotized into feeling more satisfied with smaller quantities of food at a time. And a side benefit is you might start choosing foods that are best for you instead of what tastes best or is most convenient.
That being said, if there is a medical reason for weight loss and not simply overeating, then medical help might be needed. But if you change your habits, thoughts, and attitudes you will change your life in possibly some big ways with the help of hypnotism.

So there is a line drawn between what meditation is and
hypnosis but they share the need for relaxation to achieve the
end result. Here are some commonalities.
- They both can be induced in a similar way
- Meditation and hypnosis both require breathing in a
certain way
- Sometimes the procedure with either one utilizes
listening to chants, mantras, or rhythms
- With either one a person might stare at something to
get started
As shown above, what meditation and hypnosis both have most
in common occurs in the very beginning induction stages.
Hypnosis has a major benefit A major benefit of hypnosis
apposed to any other form of achieving relaxation is the
ability to receive suggestions.
As an example, if you were to self hypnotize then your
whole your mind is listening to you and open to
suggestions. You could then use affirmations to achieve
better results that support your goals. Since hypnosis
helps a person relax enough to bypass the conscious mind
and reach the subconscious level, when properly learned and
when properly applied mental obstacles on the road to
meditation can be eliminated or reduced.
Yoga is not a form of automatic
suggestion or autosuggestion.
Yoga is used to explore yourself from
within, which in turn brings about a state
of relaxation.
One can however use hypnotism to suggest
that the mind is clear and the body should
relax.

The deep state of relaxation and cleared mind can ease a
person into meditation more easily. As we have explored
here in this article, there are commonalities between
hypnosis and meditation but meditation does not include any
form of suggestion to the subconscious mind as is often the
case with hypnotism. However, hypnotism can enhance the
meditation experience and can even help a person achieve a
deep state of meditation more easily.
