Prescription Drugs or Yoga - You Be the Judge
Stroll down the over the counter remedy aisle of your local grocery store, and you will be amazed at the
cornucopia of remedies, tinctures, balms, and supplements that offer quick relief from constipation, diarrhea,
sleeplessness, anxiety, stress, heartburn, headaches, sinus pressure, and a whole host of other problems and
inconveniences that remind consumers of their bodies every so often.
Rather than heeding the warning signs the physical nature is displaying, consumers are quick to drown out the
symptoms with the help of painkillers and analgesics that also double as sleep aides, not realizing that the actual
problem does not go away.
It is therefore not in the least surprising that as the problems are permitted to continue unfettered, before
long the over the counter drugs will have lost their magic and stronger dosages are required.
Generally speaking, this is when a consumer will seek out the help of a physician who most likely will reach for
the prescription pad to help.
Prescription drugs then pick up where the over the counter remedies left off, but since many prescriptions carry
serious side effects, it is only a matter of time before a consumer will once again head for the over the counter
aisle, this time to pick up a quick remedy to counteract a side effect.
Unless broken, this cycle will continue on until the consumers body is medicated to such an extent that it fails
to deliver the vital cues and messages it is designed to offer.
Antihistamines block receptors that trigger the itching, nasal irritation, and sneezing associated with allergies and decongestants work by narrowing the blood vessels in the lining of your nose, which shrinks swollen nasal passages. Cough medicines have two groups’ antitussives, which suppress coughs by blocking the cough reflex and expectorants, which help to bring up the mucus we have as a result of colds or flu. The thinning of the mucus makes coughing more productive and effectively clearing away mucus from our airways making it easier to breathe. Drugs and Medicine |
On the other hand, those who have a keen interest in alternative medicine already know about yoga and its many
benefits, and even though it is sometimes considered something of an exercise that seeks to twist participants into
pretzel shapes, in reality the practice of yoga is one that benefits the body on a number of levels!
* Yoga requires and hones body control. The poses that make up the majority of the yoga positions foster the
ability of the participant to not only move in such a manner as to get into the pose, but it provides the
strengthening of muscles and ligaments to allow the individual to stay in these poses for brief periods of
time.
Controlling the body is an amazing way of helping it to stop twitching and moving and instead permits active
relaxation that does not rely on pills.
Medications Used For The Common Cold When you come down with the common cold, all you can think about is relieving your symptoms fast so that you can feel better again. We all know that there is no cure for the common cold, and that it is a virus, so no antibiotic is going to get rid of it for us. Viruses just need to run their course and in the meantime we can try to make ourselves feel a little better by relieving the symptoms of the common cold. Drugs and Medicine |
* The achievement of body control requires proper breathing, and breathing techniques are an integral part of
yoga exercises. Learning to control ones breathing is a surefire way of calming down, relieving anxiety, and
sleeping.
* Becoming in tune with the body enables the participant to become aware of the messages sent by the
body both the messages that speak of wellbeing and also the ones that warn of poor nutritional choices,
overactive worrying, and failure to properly relax muscles in an attempt to bring the body to rest.
Granted, prescription drugs, over the counter remedies, and yoga are at times able to achieve the same goal, and
drugs are faster, but in the long run they carry heavy risks. Prescription drugs or yoga you be the judge!
