I would wager that most people know that if they take good care of the teeth; that they will decrease the amount of bad breath coming from their mouth.
The problem is that in order to fight bad breath effectively, you must know how to practice good oral care.
The point of cleaning your teeth, mouth and gum is to get as much of these particles off so that bacteria won't be able to enjoy being in your mouth so much. Brushing your teeth, flossing and cleaning the surface of your tongue and gum all help to avoid bad breath.
Eating foods that contain strong odors such as onions and garlic you and others will still notice the odors until the foods have passed through your body even if you brush, floss or use a mouthwash because as foods are digested and then absorbed through your bloodstream they travel through your body and are then eventually carried to you lungs where they are exhaled and can smell like bad breath to others or yourself.
If despite practicing good oral health such as brushing your teeth after eating, using floss to get food particles out from between teeth, and brushing your tongue you still notice bad breath it may be a sign of other health problems.
Other health problems that can contribute to bad breath include gum disease, poorly fitting dentures or other dental appliances, cavities, and infections of the mouth.
Good Oral Care:
Brush a minimum of twice a day using fluoride toothpaste recommended by your dentist.
Brush your Tongue
Use a new toothbrush approximately every 2 to 3 months
Use floss in-between your teeth once a day
Keep regular dental appointments
Avoid smoking or chewing tobacco-based products
Drink lot of water to keep your mouth from becoming dry
Suck on sugarless candy or chew sugarless gum to stimulate the production of saliva to keep your mouth moist, fresh and clean
Fight bad breath by knowing what good oral care is and how to brush your teeth, brush your tongue and clean your gums.
Once you know how to practice good oral care it is time to take action and fight bad breath.
