Back Pain during the Day

Kevin Caldbeck

It is estimated that approximately 80% of people will have some sort of lower back problem during their life.  Most of the time these problems will go away with time and proper care, and not have any long last effects.

Your back is made up of bone, muscles, nerves and other soft tissues. Just about every move we make depends upon our back being healthy.  When something goes amiss it can severely hamper the person's lifestyle.

Unfortunately, back pain can happen to anyone, at any time. This pain can cause mild discomfort, to a very severe pain that seriously keeps the person from doing anything.

Common triggers for Back Pain include:

  • poor posture,
  • lack of exercise,
  • standing or bending down for long periods,
  • sitting in a chair that doesn’t provide enough back support,
  • sleeping on a bed that doesn’t provide enough back support,
  • lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling loads that are too heavy, or doing these things in the wrong way,
  • a trip or fall.
  • automobile accidents,
  • being overweight,

Many of these things can be avoided with proper training about protecting your back.

Back Pain during the Day

During your everyday life, you probably do many different activities that require you to use your back. Even though you may not think about it while you are doing it, your back is being worked out. This may not be a big problem if you are doing everything the right way, but if you are not, you may end up with a lot of back pain at the end of your day.

A lot of people suffer from back pain after being at work all day. The main problem with this is that they cannot figure out why their back hurts. They feel that they are simply going to work, sitting at their desk all day long and then going home. But while all of this is going on, they are overlooking the obvious reason as to why their back is causing them problems.

By not keeping a proper posture while sitting at a desk, you will cause yourself all kinds of problems in the long run. It is important to make sure that you sit up straight the entire day, with your shoulders back in a natural curve. This will ensure that your spine stays in a straight position, which will help to eliminate back pain. If you are having a hard time with this you may want to get a lower back support that will help you sit properly. This will allow you to find the proper position, and be as comfortable as possible during the day.

People that do manual labor for a living also find that back problems are common. Even though you are not sitting at a desk all day, you are still using your back to lift items all day long. This can be even more detrimental to your back than bad posture. If you are going to be lifting all day long the first thing you need to do is learn the proper technique. Regardless of how heavy the items are, you always need to lift with your legs, never your back. Many people have also found out that braces are a great tool to have. They can help to support your lower back throughout the day, and help to ensure that you have no problems when the day is over.

If you are still having problems with your back, and you do not know what to do, you will want to visit your family doctor or a chiropractor. They will be able to determine why your back is giving you problems, and also properly diagnose your situation. You may find out that your back problem is more serious than you thought. These doctors can also give you a lot of information on exercises that you can do to keep your back healthy. Many people overlook doing exercises, but they can work.

Overall, if you are suffering from back pain throughout the day there is no reason to live with the discomfort. Look into what is causing the problem, and then take the necessary steps to solve it.
