It is estimated that approximately 80% of people will have some sort of lower back problem during their life. Most of the time these problems will go away with time and proper care, and not have any long last effects.
Your back is made up of bone, muscles, nerves and other soft tissues. Just about every move we make depends upon our back being healthy. When something goes amiss it can severely hamper the person's lifestyle.
Unfortunately, back pain can happen to anyone, at any time. This pain can cause mild discomfort, to a very severe pain that seriously keeps the person from doing anything.

- a trip or fall.

Many of these things can be avoided with proper training about protecting your back.
Accidents That Cause Back Pain Accidents happen everyday. People who suffer from back pain usually injured their backs in some type of accident. Whether it was a car accident, lifting an object that was too heavy, injuring one’s back playing sports, or just twisting the wrong way, a back injury can cost a person money and can force them to take time off from work. These types of injuries can take months to heal. The pain could last for years. There are a few ways to prevent accidents involving back injury. Being aware of one’s surroundings is perhaps the best advice a person could give concerning the avoidance of accidents.
Back injury due to lifting a heavy item is a preventable accident. Asking for help is the best way to move a heavy object. But when help is not available and the object must be moved, there are ways to move the object without hurting one’s back. Bending at the knees takes the strain off back muscles. This also secures one’s balance and makes the body overall work less. If an object cannot be moved by picking it up, then may be it could be moved by pushing it across the floor. Bending at the knee will relieve the stress. Another option is to just leave the object alone and wait for help. Back injury due to careless lifting is not worth the pain that will be suffered afterward.
Car accidents happen all the time. It is hard to prevent an accident. Drive carefully and always be aware of what is going on around the car. Always wear a seatbelt. This can prevent injury. Back problems may occur after an accident even if a seatbelt is worn. This is unavoidable sometimes. Seek medical attention after a car accident. Make sure the doctor knows about the back pain. Catching the pain before it gets worse will make it easier to treat. The proper medications can be administered and hopefully the back problem will disappear.
Playing sports is another way people injure themselves. When people twist the wrong way or are knocked over, they may experience back pain. This occurs in older people who are playing football or running. Oftentimes, their injury might be from another injury that happened years before. One can injure the back many times on one’s lifetime. Taking care of the body and getting enough rest and plenty of food will help keep sport injuries to a minimum.
Accidents that affect the back are very common. It is almost impossible to go through life and not hurt one’s back. Lifting heavy objects, sitting for hours at a computer using incorrect posture, and other accidents can all cause severe pain that could last a lifetime. It is important to eat properly and to exercise. This will hopefully prevent this type of injury from occurring. But if it does, it is important not to further injure the back. See a doctor if the pain persists after a few days. Small pain can usually be taken car of with bed rest and hot and cold compress therapy.
