Aromatherapy

So what is  Aromatherapy, well that is a hard queston to answer as it means so many didiferent things to eah person.

Essential oils are extracted from aromatic plants, as well as from grasses and different types of trees.  They are also known as “essences” or “volatile oils”.  They tend to accumulate within the plant fibres and it is believed that their function is to help with the pollination process as well as to prevent attacks from potential predators.

Aromatherapy is used to treat a wide range of conditions such as anxiety, insomnia and stress, muscular aches and pains, headaches, asthma, digestive problems, eczema, menopausal and menstrual symptoms.

You can buy many aromatherapy oils from pharmacies and health shops and use them to treat yourself or you can be treated by an Aromatherapist. An Aromatherapist will massage essential old into your skin. If you decide to treat yourself, you can add the essential oils to your bath, inhale them via steaming water or use an oil burner or diffuser. Nowadays there is a wide range of toiletries that contain essential oils and many claim to increase one’s wellbeing along with having healing properties.

Aromatherapy and Beauty

Today, many women are using Aromatherapy to enhance their beauty regimens.  Aromatherapy is the art of using fragrant plants and herbs to enhance the body, mind, and spirit.  This isn’t a new science; in fact the Ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Romans, Chinese, and the Bible all mention various forms of Aromatherapy.  Some of these forms include Aromatherapy baths, masks, oils, massages, herbal teas for drinking and soaking, and incense.  For the ancients, there was a fine line between medicine and magic.  Most of the spiritual practices served a dual purpose for treating and curing ailments as well.  The line between body, mind, and spirit wasn’t as clearly drawn as it is today.  Today, beauty for some women consists of the newest cosmetic line and focuses solely on the outward physical appearance, while others focus on the beauty that begins with a healthy body that is purified from the inside by drinking plenty of water, eating pure whole foods, and exercising regularly.  Finally, there is a sector of women who include spirituality in their beauty practices.  These women focus on meditation and prayer and believe that dealing with emotional and physical negatives through spiritual practices is the best way to achieve and maintain beauty.

Aromatherapy can effectively play a role in all three of these areas of beauty.  For the woman who leaves her beauty routine to products in a bottle, there are many herbal remedies and formulas that enhance makeup products from foundation to lipstick.  These products include the rich fragrances of aromatic herbs that not only have beautifying qualities, but also relax the mind with their tranquil scents.  For those who focus on cleansing the body from the inside out and believe that optimum health plays a key role in their beauty practices, Aromatherapy infusions are a fantastic way to cleanse the body, release toxins, and bring harmony and balance to the body and mind from the inside out.  And for those who are looking to meditation and prayer to release stress and the negative energies that plague the mind, Aromatherapy has been a successful tool to purify the surrounding environment while at the same time, evoking states of internal peace and harmony.

A combination of all of these areas is often the best approach to maintain and achieve the highest form of beauty from your Aromatherapy practices.  By using herbal formulas for the outward appearance of your skin you will benefit by treating any skin irritations and infections from the source, while also beautifying your skin.  Many herbs such as Chamomile, Aloe Vera, Black Walnut, Sage, Rosemary, and Tea Tree can beautify the skin by keeping the skin supple and in optimum health.  Herbal infusions may be added to baths and herbs may be infused into massage oils to beautify the body through the inside out.  Herbal infusions are an aromatic way to treat sickness and illness and herbal massages are a wonderful method to treat conditions such as sore muscles, to fight depression, and to stimulate the lymph system to increase circulation.  By incorporating all of these Aromatherapy techniques, one will beautify the external appearance, as well as the internal processes such as their mind and emotions.
